I dislike so much what I see our society and the media doing to people that I know. Girls see pictures of women on billboards, in magazines, on the internet, and believe that is an “ideal definition of beauty”. Females look at these pictures, which are edited beyond extent, and these girls with their whole faces made up, and believe that if they do not look like this, they are worthless. If they do not have this external “so-called” beauty, they are not beautiful. In reality, it takes five minutes to edit a body and make it “fit”; To trim off or add inches anywhere on a woman’s body with editing. We also have all these social networking sites that we feel our self worth COMES from. In our generation, you are not “beautiful” unless you get a certain number of likes on a photo, you are not “popular” unless you have a certain number of friends or followers. HOW sad is it that our worth is based on these things?! “Dang, I didn’t get a like on that status, I must have no friends”; well all these things are a lie. All these things are what the media / our culture wants you to believe, so we can be a puppet to what it wants to sell us. No one is perfect, I will be the first to admit that I feel insecure at times. I will say that even those perceived as the most beautiful, confidant, and secure have their insecure moments. We are all human. But it is important to know that you are UNIQUELY and WONDERFULLY made by God . No matter what the media tells you, what anyone else tells you, don’t let anyone take away your confidence in yourself, your belief in yourself, or your security. Don’t ever let anyone’s miniscule opinion matter more than your OWN opinion of your SELF. At the end of the day, there is only you that you answer to. You can never control what people say about you , but you can ALWAYS control one of the most important things in life, which is your ATTITUDE. You have a choice to let what others say control you or not. Don’t ever disrespect yourself because of what other’s say about you , because you are better than that. <3 xo - AW
